The free event featured nearly 50 booths led by parents and staff celebrating cultures from around the world through food, art, music, clothing, performances, and interactive displays.
Students were at the center of the celebration, taking the stage to proudly share their cultural identities.
From drumming to traditional Ukrainian dance, each performance highlighted the diverse perspectives and talents that enrich District 202 schools every day.
The event brought together students, families, and staff in a shared celebration of community and connection.
“At the end of the day, our students are the heart of our district,” said Cindy Castanon, Director of Multilingual Education at District 202.
“Seeing them share their cultures and traditions so authentically reminds us why we do this work. They are the heartbeat of everything we strive to achieve in District 202.”

Our 5th grade is hosting a Double Good Fundraiser! Please consider purchasing some Double Good popcorn to help support our goal!

Students in all grades had St. Patrick’s Day fun last week in the media center! They created catapults, engineered strong rainbows, and coded robot “leprechauns” to complete mazes they built to get to a pot of gold.

We are #202proud to recognize and thank our 93 social workers for the incredible support they provide to our school community. As National School Social Work Week closes, we appreciate the vital role they play in our schools with our students, parents, and staff.

Tomorrow we begin our Read Across America Week, and also kick off our March Madness! Students can participate in our spirit days, and families can listen to our daily story together by clicking the link below. It’s going to be a great day, a great week, and a great month!

We loved welcoming families into our school for our Snuggle Up & Read + STEM morning! Families spent time reading together, exploring STEM activities, and enjoying a few tasty snacks. Thank you to everyone who joined us to make this such a cozy and meaningful start to the day!

Using what they discovered about force and motion in the classroom, students experimented to see if they could help a rock roll as easily as a marble. With a rock, a marble, Play-Doh, foil, and lots of creativity (plus some amazing encouragement from our fourth grade helpers!), they tested ideas, made adjustments, and learned that sometimes a little teamwork and problem-solving can make all the difference.
So much hands-on learning and so many proud smiles!

Join us in spreading kindness all week with daily spirit day. Wear red, cozy PJs, tie-dye, and TJ spirit wear! Let’s celebrate empathy, kindness, and community together! 💕
