Bonnie McBeth Learning Center celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month virtually

Bonnie McBeth Learning Center is continuing to educate students about cultures, even during remote learning.

While Bonnie McBeth Learning Center celebrates different cultures each week, they focused on the Hispanic culture from September 15-October 15, 2020 as part of Hispanic Heritage Month.

The school’s Cultural Competency Committee selected a series of educational videos and activities for students to complete during Hispanic Heritage Month.

Teachers implemented the activities during their regular lessons and posted the videos and activities in their Google classrooms for students and their families, said Lisa Price, the co-chair of the Cultural Competency Committee and a teacher at Bonnie McBeth Learning Center.

During Hispanic Heritage Month students learned how to greet others in Spanish, sing a song in English and Spanish, and about the different Hispanic cultures.

We want to expose our students to Hispanic heritages and cultures and these videos and activities help us do that virtually,” Price said. “We have a diverse district, so it is important to celebrate our diversity,” Price added.
